How long does a galvanised water tank last?
A well-maintained galvanised water tank can last up to 50 years, and have a typical life span of around 25-35 years.

Are they safe?
Yes. Galvanised steel tanks are safe for water storage for consumption. The only caution to be taken is with very old tanks. After the zinc (galvanised) coating deteriorates, this can allow the steel to rust and cause contamination. This is why we recommend replacing your drinking water tank every 50 years or so.
