What is Bluescope AQUAPLATE® steel?
Bluescope AQUAPLATE® steel is a galvanized steel product with the addition of a special, purpose designed food-grade polymer film laminated to one side, the inside, of the steel that forms the water tank. This unique laminated steel meets the highly specific and stringent requirements for storing potable water.
The product meets both Australian and international standards including
- AS 1397-2011 Food grade polymer film
- AS 2070-1999 AS/NZS 4020:2018
- ISO 9001:2015 Quality System certified

Composition
Bluescope AQUAPLATE® steel composition includes a galvanised substrate with specially developed coatings designed for potable water storage.
The layers include:
- Food Grade Polymer Film (200µm thick), Available in Potable Grey ONLY
- Custom Formulated Adhesive (7-12µm)
- Conversion Coating
- Galvanized Steel Substrate
- Conversion Coating
- Backing Coat (Galseal, 5µm). An Exterior Manufactured Articles prepainted reverse paint
- finish is also available. (Film thickness according to AS/NZS 2728:2013)
